Stewardship, Habitat Repair and Land Regeneration (Our protocols HECR, HHCR, HWP):
Natural England requested that all FTSE 350 companies report on bio-diversity by 2007; and with the demand for more ethical investments this issue is becoming increasingly important for all businesses. The “Countdown 2010” initiative that has the goal of halting the loss of biodiversity by 2010 is also increase demands for habitat protection.
Construction-related projects can involve the destruction or degradation of habitat to such an extent that the species and communities which persist in them become locally, or in some circumstances nationally (or even globally) extinct. Sites used for sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) require long term management and monitoring. Betts Estates have a large range of practical services available to help. And we create many new specialist habitats for clients: wildflower meadows, wildlife ponds (protocol HWP), bat caves and barns, Hymenoptera banks, reptile territory, hibernacula, heathland, native woodland, etc., etc.
Management of species and habitats is now an integral part of land-use planning and development. Most planning consents in Britain and elsewhere contain obligations to protect, manage and enhance ecological conditions for native wildlife, and to maintain standards of biodiversity and sustainability in line with government policy.
The Betts organisation, with its long and successful track record and the confidence of Local Planning Authorities, is well placed to ensure compliance with environmental planning conditions, regulations, best practice, duty-of-care, and the law relating to wildlife, ecology and nature conservation. This provides credibility for the LPAs and statutory nature conservation/environmental bodies.
So, whatever your requirement, we will almost certainly have a solution or an option to please you and meet your needs. We’ll work to provide you with peace of mind as well as excellence in applied ecological science. Our aim is to solve your problems. Betts Estates can even take over ownership of your problem areas of residual “green space” to release you from future obligations. Our land adoption programme is also ideal for SuDS land.
